Henne Strand is the open North Sea in its purest form: a wide sandy beach, powerful surf and plenty of wind. This is no learning spot, but a place for skilled riders who can read the current and the shorebreak. Those who can are rewarded with powerful waves and honest North Sea sessions.

North Sea for the able
Henne Strand faces fully open to the North Sea, so the surf is correspondingly powerful. Because of the strong current and a rough shorebreak, only experienced surfers and windsurfers should go in the water. Those who can read the spot are rewarded with real, powerful waves.
Our take: Henne is honest North Sea, beautiful and demanding at once. For us it’s a spot you treat with respect, and then you have sessions that stay with you for a long time. Beginners we’d rather send to Blåvand.

Respect for the water

On open North Sea beaches the rule is: watch the current and the shorebreak first, then decide. Never go out alone, judge your own strength honestly, and it’s better to call it off when it gets too much. The North Sea does not forgive recklessness.
Getting there and staying over
Henne Strand is easy to reach by car, with a beach car park right at the spot. The village has holiday homes and campsites. Whether conditions are right today, the Wind Check helps you judge, and the rest you decide on site with common sense.

Henne Strand is powerful North Sea for experienced riders. You’ll find more areas in our spot overview.
