Kloster lies on the northern shore of the Ringkøbing Fjord, a huge, shallow lagoon behind the North Sea dune. Standing-depth water, barely any waves, plenty of room, that is a learning spot at its finest. In recent years Kloster has become popular above all with kiters, who have discovered the wide standing area for themselves.

Shallow, wide and safe
The Ringkøbing Fjord is huge, at nearly 300 square kilometres, and shallow almost everywhere, so waves hardly build up. At Kloster you find a wide standing area where you practise in peace, never battling for depth. Well-equipped schools and rental stations sit around the fjord.
Our impression: Kloster is flat-water learning pure and simple. Anyone wanting to ride confidently for the first time is in exactly the right place, and the advanced enjoy the open space too. Handy: the North Sea wave is just one dune away.

Fjord or sea

The lovely thing about the Ringkøbing Fjord is its closeness to the North Sea: flat water in the fjord, the wave right next door over the Holmsland dune. At Kloster the fjord stays the calm, safe choice, while Hvide Sande marks the transition to the surf. So you can choose the day to suit the wind and your skill.
