Langballigau lies on the southern shore of the Flensburg Fjord, just about fifteen minutes from Flensburg. A well-kept sandy beach, a small harbour and a campsite right behind it. Shallow water, plenty of grass to rig on and an easy entry, an unhurried family spot to practise and enjoy.

Shallow and steady
The beach slopes gently, the standing area is large, and because west and east both run side-shore and steady, the wind is pleasant to ride. Add plenty of grass for rigging and relaxed practice comes easy. In summer a section of beach is marked as a swimming zone, that stays reserved for bathers, as a water sports rider you launch outside it.
Our impression: Langballigau is one of those places where, as a beginner, you make quick progress. No crowds, steady wind, and after the session it is just a few steps to the camper. Exactly our idea of a relaxed fjord day.
Sleeping right on the beach
The Langballigau campsite lies right on the fjord, many pitches are only about 80 metres from the beach, framed by fjord and a small lake. Out of the motorhome in the morning, check the wind, over to the grass, rig up, that is water sports with no walking at all.
When it works
The season runs from April to October. Because both west and east work well, you will find suitable wind here on many days. Whether it is enough today is told by our wind check, and for the overnight stay it is best to look directly at the campsite.
