Pet food and bowls on the go , smart feeding by the water

Foldable travel bowls with water and food at a Baltic campsite

On the road, feeding your animal is mostly one thing: routine plus a little planning. With familiar food, foldable bowls and enough fresh water, the stomach stays calm and the day stays relaxed. Here’s how to feed dog and cat cleverly by the water.

Bringing the food

  • Familiar type: on a trip, never switch the food , it almost certainly upsets the stomach. Bring the familiar type and some reserve.
  • Portion it: fill daily rations into tins or bags, store airtight and rodent-proof.
  • Dry or wet: dry food is easy on the road. Wet food and leftovers belong in the cool box, not in the sun.

Bowls & fresh water

  • Foldable travel bowls: light, pack small, quick to clean , one each for food and water.
  • Always fresh water: doubly important by salt water, so your animal doesn’t drink from the Baltic. A bottle with a bowl attachment is ideal on the go.
  • Routine: set times and the usual bowls give stability in unfamiliar surroundings.

Treats, hygiene & rubbish

  • Snacks for training: small, healthy treats reward fetching and harness training.
  • Keep it clean: rinse bowls after the meal, or it attracts insects and gulls.
  • Secure the rubbish: close empty tins and bags well and take them with you , never leave them on the beach.

Mum says: Always pack two days of food extra. An extended stay or a closed shop , and you’ll be glad of the reserve.

In short: cleverly supplied

  • Familiar food plus reserve, never switch on the road.
  • Portion daily rations, airtight and rodent-proof.
  • Foldable bowls, always fresh water on hand.
  • Cool the wet food, rinse bowls, take the rubbish with you.
  • A fixed routine and healthy treats for training.
