The right board
For the start, a large, soft softtop or a funboard, it forgives a lot and gets you into the wave early. The smaller the board, the more skill it takes. Better to start too big than too small, that brings more fun and spares your patience.
Wetsuit and care
On the Baltic and North Sea you almost always need a wetsuit, in winter a thick one with hood and gloves. After every session rinse it and dry it in the shade, never in full sun, the material will thank you.
