Wackerballig is one of those spots where you just want to stay. A shallow bay on the Geltinger Bucht, just before the Danish border, standing-depth water, a small beach, and a campsite right behind it. Exactly the kind of spot that beginners love and freeriders happily take along.

Why the spot is so relaxed
Between the small, stony sandy beach and the yacht club jetty the water stays standing-depth for a long way. You can practise in peace, and if you fall, you simply stand up. Because hardly any swell builds up near the shore, it is a friendly learning area, and when the wind is on, a relaxed freeride spot with plenty of room.
Our impression: Wackerballig is not a spot for the really big jumps, but for relaxed days. We come for the standing-depth water and stay for the campsite. Once rigged up, you can surf here for a whole weekend without moving the car even once.

Sleep where you surf

The best part: after your session you do not have far to go. The campsite is right at the spot, plus pitches for motorhome and camper van and a small kiosk. Out of the tent in the morning, check the wind, out on the water, that is a watersports holiday the way it should be.
When it works
The main season is April to October, with a wind probability of around 76 percent. It works best with wind from the southwest, west to north, which arrives onshore here. Whether there is enough wind today, our wind check will tell you.

Wackerballig is proof that the best spots do not have to be the biggest. You will find more waters in our spot overview.
