What matters
The sail size depends on wind and body weight, and when in doubt an experienced eye at the spot helps. For learning, a large, tip-stable board with a daggerboard, later it gets smaller and faster. Do not forget the mast base and extension, without them even the finest sail stays on the ground.
Care
Sand is the enemy in the mast base and the rails. Rinse them briefly, keep the clamps on the boom clean, then everything runs smoothly and nothing jams during assembly.
