The Baltic Sea is not a single spot, but a whole collection of small favourite places. Depending on the wind direction, a quiet bay turns into a perfect playground, or it doesn’t. There are three kinds of places we especially love to head for. Which specific spots are behind them, we reveal in the linked guides.
The shallow bay for learning

Standing-depth water, clean wind from the side, hardly any current. This is where we send beginners out, you can make mistakes without them becoming costly. On good days half the school is standing in the water here, grinning. Our shallow-water favourites are the bodden lagoons around Rügen, the Salzhaff near Rerik and the big bathtub of Pelzerhaken.
The wide bay for long runs
When the wind is right, you can charge in one direction forever here without running out of water. A place for everyone who already rides confidently and simply wants distance and speed. The prime example is Fehmarn with its roughly twenty spots, where there is a side of the island to suit every wind direction.
The quiet corner for after-work sessions

Not every day has to be action. Sometimes an hour after work is enough, shallow water, the sun low over the coast. These are the sessions you remember in winter. For evenings like that we love the sheltered Eckernförde Bay and, again, Pelzerhaken, which is only about an hour from Hamburg.
Which spot is the right one for you depends on the wind and your skill level. In our spot guides you will find the details on every area. Browse through the magazine at your leisure, and if you fancy a guided session, get in touch with us.
